Anime Reviews!

Hello kawaii followers!

Since the Winter 2014 anime season is coming to a close, expect 3 reviews coming your way.

Golden Time: a Fall 2013 roll-over; romantic comedy and slice of life that revolves around the relationship between Tada Banri, a new student in Tokyo struggling with amnesia, and Kaga Koko, a rich girl who followed her lover to college.

Hamatora: a 12 episode series detailing the lives of the Hamatora detective agency.
They hold special powers and are called "Minimum Holders".

Noragami: My personal favorite of the season. It's about a minor god named Yato who wants to be noticed. His life changes when a human girl saves him from a car crash, her soul splitting from her body. Hiyori is thrown into a world of spirits, gods, weapons made from spirits/ souls called Regalias.

All of the season finales are airing this week/next week, so expect reviews for all three!

Stay cute!

Bee and Puppycat: Watch it now!

Hello Kawaii followers!

What combines a sassy female lead, a magical girl, an adorable creature, and insane visuals and hilarity?

Bee and Puppycat of course!

Bee and Puppycat, created by Natasha Allegri, is a two part Youtube episode (10 minutes all together) about a twenty-something year old girl trying to find a job. She's kawaii as hell. She's sassy and funny and has a lot of personality that shows within a few minutes. One of the best scenes in the first part of the episode is when a white haired boy comes to see her. Both of them are blushing (I ALREADY ship it). Let's just say she embarrasses herself in the best way possible.

I've never shipped anything this fast. lol.

I laughed for a good five minutes.

After this hilarious encounter, a creature appears, Is it a dog or a cat? No one knows lol It's Puppycat, voiced by a vocaloid. It's probably the most adorable thing ever. Bee adopts it and from then on, the weirdest stuff happens.

Basically, Puppycat takes Bee on a gig to babysit this weird thing in space. Stuff goes wrong, and there's a semi- epic fight which ultimately results in Bee getting paid.

A magical girl getting paid to go on adventures with a dog-cat hybrid?  Sign me up.

Despite this being a one-episode thing, Bee and Puppycat was recently funded to become a mini-series airing this summer. I can't wait!

I give it a 4/5 for great potential and managing to keep my attention long enough for me to think about it afterwards.

Watch it here:

School Days Anime Review: Oh the Horror!

'

Hello there kawaii followers! Today I decided to review an anime I watched forever ago, School Days. Do not let looks deceive you, as this anime is not what the picture above depicts: a happy, kawaii lifestyle in a Japanese high school. You may have heard of it's graphic, "nice boat" ending. Irregardless, if you ever feel like watching this show, prepare to be pissed off. I pretty much hate this show, but I'll try at a fair review. Alright let's start :)

Meet Makoto. Just an average boy, going to high school...in Japan. That's all you need to know about him for now. Makoto is just your basic "average boy" anime trope. He even looks generic! One day he rides the bus, and sees a beautiful girl. This is the birth of the world's biggest jerk. You'll see why in a few. His nickname for this review is Jerkbag.

Everything changes when the kawaii girl from his class attacks. Just kidding.  Well her name is Kotonoha Katsura, and she's the shy type. Ironically, he's too shy to talk to her, so he takes her pic and stalks her from afar.

Later, in class, this girl right here finds out about Makoto's photo that he took of Kotonoha. Her name is Sekai, the girl you will love to hate. Then she offers to "help him out". I'll let you know from experience that when girls offer to help a guy enter into a relationship, it usually does not end up good. Personally, I set my exes up before with out any ulterior motives, but its not like that with a lot of girls. Obviously, there's something fishy here.

This concept is interesting, even though I know its going to be a harem. Although Makoto seemed generic, the plot of the first episode certainly wasn't a bad idea by any means. However, things change.

Basically, Jerkbag asks out Kotonoha in the first episode. Practically right after they part, Sekai kisses him. Ohhhh plot twist!

Thus begins possibly one of the most disturbing (but not in a good way) animes out there.

Jerkbag strings Kotonoha along. This isn't some cute slice-of-life show in which he actually likes the girl for a good reason. It's pretty clear what he wants.

He wants sex, to put it bodly. He honestly doesn't care who he's with, unless he's frick-fracking.

He rushes into a relationship with Kotonoha, then gets bored with her after one date. It's not because they don't know each other or anything like that. It's because she's not giving into his sexual desires.

Yeah, he tried to do it with her on a school roof. Totally not trashy or anything like that. She told him no, so he turns to Sekai, who gives him quite an offer.

So this beeyotch offers to teach him how to have sex. The worst part is that she goes as far as to friend Kotonoha, which makes this situation even worse. Sekai and Jerkbag begin to fool around behind Kotonoha's back, going as far....as... you know. Let's just say that they have a skanky affair.

If that's not even the worst part. Jerkbag doesn't stop at fooling around with two girls, lying behind his girlfriend's back, and not having any remorse for any of it. He continues to mess around with other girls.

Ahah...nothing important. Just getting it on with a random girl who doesn't really matter or anything.

At this point I wanna ask: Why the hell is everyone after this Jerkbag? He's not nice, unfaithful, a liar, and doesn't consider anyone's feelings other than his own. To top it off, he has no personality to back him up. He's one of the worst anime characters of all time. The girls COMPETE over Makoto, and I'm completely clueless as to why.

The last few episodes of the series were rather interesting to say the least. However, the content is so disturbing and seriously is gross. Sexual assault, rape, emotional trauma, and yes, murder. Sekai and Kokonoha become so emotionally disturbed until it reaches a breaking point in the final episode. This is the best and only part worth watching in School Days.

I didn't find out until after I watched this that School Days is based on an Adult only visual novel. I am not a fan of animes with graphic sexual content, or any explicit content for that matter. This series had a few ecchi moments, so stay clear of it if you don't like that kind of stuff. I understand, because that stuff grosses me out. Bleh. To each their own I guess.

Summary: School Days is a lackluster anime that had little potential to succeed. Bland characters with stereotypical archetypes are apparent from episode one. The concept seemed interesting at first, until Jerkbag Makoto first cheated on his girlfriend, and his intentions became obvious. Makoto is a sexist, careless individual that sleeps with whoever he wants, and has girls running to him for no reason. The ending is extremely violent and disturbing, but hilariously entertaining nonetheless.

Animation                     3/5
It's just ok. Nothing special.
Story                            1/5
Terrible, sexist story.
Characters                    2/5
Bland characters. Kotonoha and Sekai don't
show their true selves until the very end.
Ending                          3.5/5
A wild ending to a weak show.

You should watch this anime if: You can stand a jerk bag guy who sleeps with whoever he wants, when he wants; if you like violence, ecchi, disturbing anime

You shouldn't watch this anime if: You don't want to get pissed off.

Review: Meowchi Plush Custard from Tasty Peach Studios

The first time I saw this adorable little kitty, I wanted to grab it off the table and hug it immediately. It was my first anime convention, and I was so distracted by everything around me. Excitement ran through my entire body, as I stood at Tasty Peach Studio's booth for a good 10 minutes. However, I decided to get a pair of Narwhal earrings instead of the $20 plush, because I was running low on cash. I left empty-handed, minus a few posters and the kawaii earrings.

When I got home that night, I decided that I made a horrible life decision by not buying Meowchi. Soon enough, the same convention rolled around for 2013, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the cutest kitty plush ever.

When I went to the booth, I discovered that Meowchis were out of stock because of popularity, and my heart was crushed. The person at the booth told me that they would be back in stock Mid-November online. Nevertheless, an ice cream Narwhal shirt caught my attention, and I decided to buy that.

As soon as they were in stock, I immediately ordered a Custard style through Paypal and a cute pink ring with a pink Meowchi on it.

The transaction was fast and secure, which is always a plus. You are given a few options to cancel an order if you change your mind. I got an email confirmation soon after.

I was expecting at least a week wait for my plush, but I was pleasantly surprised when it came in two days. That was super fast shipping!

When I opened up Meowchi I was so excited. It was so cute and so soft. The plush Tasty Peach uses is of a very high quality. When you squish Meowchi, you can tell it's stuffed perfectly. Not too much, but not too little. It can even sit on places, like my head, for at least a few seconds.

The details (pink ears, eyes, whiskers) do not have any flaws and are professionally crafted.

The size of the plush is smaller than many stuffed animals/plushies, but it doesn't matter too much to me. The quality totally makes up for that.

Inside the package was a hand written note from Tasty Peach, which I thought was so kawaii. It said:" Thank you! <3" Leaving a personal note with products makes me very happy. It adds a touch that cannot be done with simply sending a product.

Overall, Meowchi by Tasty Peach is a fantastic product, and I couldn't ask for any better. It  is a high quality item that is worth the $20 price tag (plus a few bucks shipping). However, if you are expecting a large stuffed animal, you may want to rethink your purchase.

Quality                  5/5
Shipping                5/5

Is it kawaii?           YES

You can find this awesome product and many others on Tasty Peach's website

Stay cute!
